Modèle Magazine # 862

In its first issue of the summer, Modèle Magazine presents a refreshing feature on seaplanes.

And in this folder, we'll discover a review of the brand-new FMS Maule, written by Yann Moindrot himself.

Over 6 pages, the contents of the kit, the assembly and the settings are detailed. Flight tests were carried out both in "runway" configuration with the wide "Bush wheels », and in seaplane version with the floats included in the kit. The operation of the Reflex V2 stabilization module is also explained.

Some extracts from the text:

  • This Maule is in the same vein as the EPO foam products in the FMS range: it's not necessarily very light, but the finish is very nice, with barely visible foam beads and well-applied paint. The full decor is factory-installed.
  • Note: all screws are mounted in brass inserts (embedded in the plastic parts), allowing repeated assembly/disassembly without fear.
  • With its slightly "scale" look, this Maule is attractive and easy to fly. It can fly almost anywhere, thanks to the large wheels and floats supplied. It can take off very short and land slowly. You can even get started with it, even if it's not the best for the job. But it's much prettier than a beginner's plane...
  • This Maule will make a good first seaplane: with no wind, it's stable on the water thanks to its well-designed floats. The rudder is efficient, allowing you to turn around in less than 4 meters. The Maule lifts off very quickly, passing over the redans in just a few meters, with little water splashing onto the propeller. Take-off can be achieved in less than 8 to 10 m with flaps. In flight, the behavior is similar to that of the land version, and all kinds of aerobatics are possible. Landing is almost as easy as on land: even if you land a little hard, the floats handle it perfectly.
