FMS – 1400mm Kingfisher

It has the look of a bushplane, with its huge wheels of 127 mm in diameter, its high wing and its flaps, and if it is a perfect beginners plane, the FMS Kingfisher is also a short takeoff and landing airplane.

Unboxing

The unboxing shows a particularly advanced kit, which only requires a quick final assembly without glue and almost without tools ... a screwdriver is just needed to fix the train. Wings and stab will slide into place and lock immobilized, while the masts are maintained by very practical pins.

6 9 Gram servos drive the ailerons (2 servos), flaps (2 servos), stab and the direction (each a servo). The 3536 Kv850 brushless motor is controlled by a 40 A Predator ESC and drives a propeller 11 x 7, which the cone allows a manual clamping without tool.

Equipment to provide

You will need a radio with a minimum of 4 channels (with cords in Y for the ailerons and flaps). However, we recommend a programmable radio system to manage at least a differential ailerons and flaps mixing to depth, which allows a more comfortable steering. Why not a Radiolink AT9S?

A LiPo battery pack 3S 11,1V 2200 to 3000 mAh according to desired autonomy will be necessary (less than 30 mm thickness), with a capacity of at least 20 C discharge. Our BEEBAF3S2200 reference fits perfectly, with an adapter Deans to EC3.

Finally, a LiPo battery charger will be essential. You have a choice in the SkyRC range, since the very economic Charger AC e3, through B6AC V2 AC/DC can be used at home and in the field, or even the very recent B6 Nano DC powerful and ultra-compact for the field.

Assembly

In 15 minutes, you can mount the Kingfisher. Simply ensuring good locking wings and stab.

The poles can be mounted easily without tools with the snap-on pins.

Enough place for the battery pack and the receiver.

Super flight qualites

The Kingfisher is much more comfortable on not so basic tracks, grass, dirt or other, thanks to its huge wheels. Thus, it is usable everywhere. With limited travels, it is a perfect beginners plane. But when the driver takes insurance, and uses the flaps the travels can be increased and the Kingfisher becomes a real STOL (Short Take-Offs and Landings) plane, able to take off in less than 5 meters, to fly slowly and to land short after a steep approach. It is also able to pass basic aerobatic figures.

And don't miss the options !

You find in the kit an extra cover, which replaces the standard cover-windshield, and that allows to install a FPV equipment (Camera and transmitter). The Kingfisher is the ideal model to start flying fixed wing aircraft immersion ! And here again, switch from the normal version to equipment FPV on the ground is a matter of seconds, once your FPV hood pre-fitted to the workshop. (Material not supplied in the kit FPV)

We also offer an optional set including a set of floats with all the fittings, and a pair of skis to fly when the snow fell. You see, the Kingfisher is really versatile, all-purpose, a real "must - have"

Unlike a majority of trainers with small wheels, the Kingfisher is totally comfortable on grass and unprepared terrain.

The Kingfisher is the King of the short take-off!
