B6 nano SkyRC

B6 nano SkyRC

Tiny, economical, but it does the maximum !

In the workshop or on the track, the nano SkyRC B6 is the charger which can be used everywhere. In a very reduced format, SkyRC has focused all its know-how to offer a charger for most types of batteries used in model making, able to be supplied with power from 9 to 32 volts DC, and offering a load of 320 Watts power! And as a bonus, it can even be controlled from your smartphone!

Unboxing

Comes in a small box, the B6 nano is only accompanied by a cord with XT60 connectors and his notice. Note that a notice in french is downloadable from the page on this site. The cord can be used to feed it if you use a workshop power supply like that of 380 W SkyRC. Otherwise, it may also be used as charge lead.

According to the power source that you will use, you will probably need to provide a power cord adapted, with connector XT60 to connect the nano B6 and connectors of your choice at the other end, adapted to your power supply.

Similarly, you should foresee the charge cords suitable for your battery packs. Side loader, this is still a XT60 connector.

Presentation

The upper side is equipped with a LCD in black and white of a remarkable readability. Below, three touch buttons allow setting of the load elements. No need to press the keys, a single tap is enough. That surprise even a little at the beginning, not "click", not ramming buttons, it's almost the feel of a touchscreen.

The left side receives a XT60 connector to power the charger.

The right side also has a XT60 connector, as well as a connector for balancing 2 to 6 lithium elements. Note that the balancing connector allows to connect directly XH plugs without the need for an adaptor plate.

The front has the fan louvers while under the charger at the back, away of the work plan, there is a powerful fan to keep a reasonable temperature at all.

The screen still shows the same elements : Type of battery, number of elements, operating mode, current (charge or discharge), the battery voltage, capacity (loaded or unloaded) and finally a gauge to get an idea of the level of "the charging level" of the battery. It is crystal clear! An indicator shows the activation of a Bluetooth connection with your smartphone.

Note that the nano B6 takes in charge the batteries LiPo, LiHV, LiFe and LiIon 1 to 6 elements, the NiCd/NiMH 1 to 15 elements and the Pb batteries from 2 to 20 Volt, no less!

Note the tiny size of the nano B6... He holds in the hand!

Power supply

The nano B6 needs to be DC powered and accepts a wide voltage range : 9 to 32 V ! On the track,  a car battery of 12 Volt, as well as of large truck 24 Volt battery can be used. With this type of power supply, there is no problem to have 350 Watt which is required to make full use of the charger.

At the workshop, we can use a regulated power supply, but it is essential that its power output is at least 350 Watt in order not to damage the charger.

Standard utilisation

It could not be more simple : once the charger is connected to its power source, the screen lights up. Touch the center key and the type of battery flashes : it remains to select the wright type with the side keys. Touch the center key again, and this is the number of elements that flashes, and you select in turn. New touch of the central button and the mode to select appears and for a simple charger, we have the choice between : charging with balancing, discharge, charging without balancing, fast charge (reduction of the phase constant tension for the LiXX) and finally storage ! Last tap on the central button and you can choose the current.

It remains to connect the battery and balancing intake in the case of a pack LiXX, and touch and hold the central key to launch the charging.

Note that every action triggers a sound signal, attesting that you touched the button.

Then, it remains to wait for the charger to arrive at the end of the process, indicated by a sound alarm and an end of charge message is displayed on the screen.

Bluetooth

By downloading the SkyCharger application on your mobile iOS or Android, you can set very easily the B6 nano from the phone screen, launch the charging and watch it from a distance. You will have then more information yet, since with the app, you can know the voltage of each element of the pack.

And you will also have the opportunity to go on https://www.skyrc.com/ChargeQrcode/ to generate a label to print and stick on your pack with a QR code. Then, with the application SkyCharger, just scan this code to directly launch the desired process. Could not be easier or faster!

In short …

The B6 Nano is a real Swiss army knife for your battery and there is no doubt that it will follow you everywhere as it is compact and powerful ! Then its price is very soft ...
