However, this model club has many “traditional” builders working balsa or glass fiber. But that does not prevent them from getting in their fleets classic wood homemade planes and foam models.
It started at the end of 2018 when Jean-Louis Coussot arrived with a first FMS PA-18, and performed some short takeoffs and landings, slow flights in a limited space ... before passing his transmitter from hand to hand ... And the result, in the weeks and months that followed, the PA-18 FMS multiplied in the field.
Quickly, Jean-Louis redecorated his PA-18 with a surprising paint sheme in our colors (Beez2B), giving ideas to his model club colleagues, and everyone found ideas to customise their aircraft.
Since then, if Jean-Louis has swapped his Piper for an FMS Pitts, his plane has not left the model club and now flies there in the hands of another member and nine PA-18s are in service, while one pilot has already stocked one more model so that a Piper never misses him in case of trouble on her current model.
A few days ago, five of the model club's PA-18s were out with the floats on seaplane day.
What more can be said? A real success? Definitely! And FMS planes seduce for sure this model club since we also find the three sizes of Ranger, a Pitts, a PC-21, one or two Kingfisher, a Futura and two Super EZ, one of the two being used for teaching student pilots.
